Ruble strengthens by end of trading on Moscow Exchange on Thursday

MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. The Russian ruble strengthened in the course of trading on the Moscow Exchange on Thursday.

As of 07:00 Moscow time, the dollar-to-ruble rate fell by 0.73% to 97 rubles, the euro-to-ruble rate dropped by 1.21%, to 106.80 rubles, according to the data on the website of the trading platform.

"On Thursday, the ruble moderately strengthened against the dollar. The Russian currency continues to be supported by the effect of yesterday's decision of the President of Russia to sell gas to Europe for rubles. It is also worth noting that the general sentiment is supported by the positive resumption of trading in the stock market, the Moscow Exchange index added 4.37% at the end of the session," said Alexander Bakhtin, investment strategist at BCS World of Investments.

The expert notes that in the context of geopolitical tensions and the continued aggressive sanctions rhetoric of the West, it will be difficult for the ruble to show further strengthening at the end of the week. According to BCS World of Investments, on Friday the dollar-to-ruble rate can be within the range of 95-105 rubles.
