Face masks demand in Moscow region up 1.5 times in June, Wildberries notes

Residents of the capital region also purchase skin sanitizers, with the demand soaring by 34%, online retailer said

MOSCOW, June 13. /TASS/. The demand for face masks has grown dramatically in the Moscow region and in St. Petersburg on June 9-11 against the like period in May on the back of worsened situation with the COVID-19 coronavirus spread, the largest Russian online retailer Wildberries told TASS.

"The sharp growth of face masks demand was noted in the Moscow region and in St. Petersburg. Orders for disposable masks in the Moscow region surged by 50% from June 9 to 11, compared to the like period in May. The demand for oxygen saturation monitors had an upsurge by 30% in 3 days," Wildberries said.

Residents of the capital region also purchase skin sanitizers, with the demand soaring by 34%.

Ordered disposable masks in St. Petersburg moved up by 40% from June 9 to 11 against the like period in May. The demand for sanitizers rose by 41%. Orders of oxygen saturation monitors gained 33% over three days.

On Saturday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin declared paid, non-working days in the city from June 15 to 19 to curb the spread of coronavirus infections.
