MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. Russia’s latest Citadel air defense artillery system will be produced in a mobile configuration mounted on a vehicle chassis, Rostec told TASS.
"Specialists of the state corporation Rostec have developed a mobile version of the Citadel air defense artillery system. The system’s combat module, along with its radar and optical detection systems, is now mounted on a vehicle chassis," the company said.
The state corporation noted that this configuration allows for the rapid deployment of the system to locations requiring protection against aerial threats. Furthermore, Rostec emphasized that the mobile version will provide mobile air defense teams with enhanced target-engagement capabilities.
"To date, the stationary version of the Citadel system has proven its effectiveness in combat conditions, it is highly effective at downing various types of drones, as well as cruise missiles," the corporation added.
The Citadel air defense artillery system is designed to protect stationary facilities. It uses shrapnel-type projectiles with remotely-controlled fuses.
