KALININGRAD, October 12. /TASS/. The Russian Navy’s Baltic Fleet training ship Perekop has completed a visit to the Republic of Mozambique aimed at bolstering bilateral naval cooperation and fostering friendly ties, the Baltic Fleet’s press service reported.
"The Baltic Fleet training ship Perekop has completed its program of activities in the Republic of Mozambique and left the port of Maputo," the fleet said in a statement.
Representatives of the Perekop command visited the headquarters of the Mozambican Naval Forces, where they met with the country’s Navy Commander, Rear-Admiral Estevao Nchokomala. The parties discussed bilateral naval cooperation. The Russian delegation also visited the Maputo City Council, where they met with its Chairman Rasaque Manhique.
A tour of the training ship was organized for members of the Mozambican Navy. Crew members explained the specifics of their service, while instructors discussed how practical training is organized for cadets. Joint training sessions on ship survival and first aid were also held.
The Baltic Fleet training ship’s long-distance deployment is part of the maritime training program for cadets from naval academies of the Russian Defense Ministry and friendly nations. The cadets are training in navigation, refining their ship-handling skills under various conditions and in complex navigational situations, and serving as backups for deck watch officers and navigators.
