The missile flies at a high speed of over Mach 3, has an operational range of 250 km and carries a 110 kg warhead

MOSCOW, January 26. /TASS/. The Russian Kh-31PD air-launched anti-radiation missile can win duel battles with the US Patriot air defense system, Tactical Missiles Corporation CEO, Hero of Russia Boris Obnosov told TASS on Thursday.

"The Kh-31PD missile flies at a high speed of over Mach 3, at over 1,000 meters per second to strike enemy air defenses. It was necessary to design it to reach a technologically new level, arrange its production and upgrade it so that it can effectively cope with its objectives. This weapon can win duel battles with the Patriot system," the chief executive said, adding that the missile was the corporation’s and his personal pride.

The Kh-31PD air-launched high-speed anti-radiation missile is designed to engage surface-to-air missile systems. According to the data posted on the manufacturer’s website, the missile has an operational range of 250 km and carries a 110 kg warhead. It is outfitted with a dual guidance system and its increased engagement range boosts its pre-emptive strike capabilities.

Tactical Missiles Corporation was set up by the Russian president’s decree on January 24, 2002. The corporation is focused on rolling out high-precision missiles, smart bombs, air-, ground-and sea-based weapons.
