A farewell ceremony for the late Cuban former President Fidel Castro was held in Havana on November 29. The service was led by the island nation’s current leader Raul Castro. Presidents, prime ministers and diplomats from around the world took to a podium in Cuba’s Plaza of the Revolution to offer speeches paying tribute to Castro. Delegations from about 50 states attended the event outside the memorial to Cuban independence hero Jose Marti. The Russian delegation was led by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, who said in his speech that Russia and Cuba "will always be together."
