MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. Vladimir Zelensky said in an interview with PBS television network that he wanted to discuss SpaceX’s operation in Ukraine with American entrepreneur Elon Musk following the latest restrictions, but Musk couldn't get in touch.
"I wanted to speak with him after -- after all that's happened with SpaceX, yes, but they didn't talk to us," he said.
Zelensky also complained that Musk seems to have turned against Ukraine. "His old signals about us, about Ukraine, his -- I mean, it's not a pro-Ukrainian position. Yes, this is what I hear," he said.
Furthermore, according to him, Ukraine has still not been granted access to the Starshield system. "We discussed this with US President Donald Trump three or four times. He said he would try, but it’s not up to him--it depends on SpaceX," he said.
In mid-October, officials in Kiev stated that SpaceX had restricted the operation of Starlink terminals for the Ukrainian armed forces. For his part, Musk stated that the Starlink satellite system is not used for offensive military operations--it is used only for defense and civilian purposes--and that the Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government, with any restrictions imposed by the US Armed Forces and, ultimately, by the president. Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal claimed that it was Musk himself who ordered the restriction of Ukraine’s access to Starshield.
