Brazilian lawmakers call for Bolsonaro to be stripped of Senate seat — TASS source

It was reported earlier that Flavio Bolsonaro had secretly left Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, October 28. /TASS/. Several Brazilian lawmakers have called for Flavio Bolsonaro, who lost the presidential election, to be stripped of his Senate seat following his flight to the United States, a source in the South American country’s National Congress told TASS.

"His career is over. Several lawmakers have already called for Flavio Bolsonaro to be stripped of his Senate seat following his flight to the United States," the source said. The source added that lawmakers were also demanding an immediate suspension of the politician’s salary payments.

It was reported earlier that Flavio Bolsonaro had secretly left Brazil in defiance of an order by Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes to surrender his passports as part of a criminal investigation into money laundering allegations.

Brazil held the second round of its presidential election on October 25, with incumbent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Flavio Bolsonaro competing for the country’s top office. The politician fled the country as the votes were being counted, prompting sharp criticism from both his political opponents and his own allies.
