Kiev to fail to counter Russian jet-powered drones without Starlink — Zelensky’s adviser

Earlier, Sergey Beskrestnov reported that SpaceX had restricted overnight the operating speed of Starlink satellite Internet terminals used by the Ukrainian army to 160 km/h

MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army will no longer be able to counter Russian jet-powered drones due to the slower operation of the US Starlink satellite Internet service, Vladimir Zelensky’s external adviser, communications and unmanned systems expert Sergey Beskrestnov said.

"All say that Starlink restrictions have affected long-range missions and frontline logistics but there is another big problem for us," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

As the adviser pointed out, Kiev uses Starlink to counter jet-powered drones but now the Ukrainian military will be unable to do that due to restrictions in its operation. Beskrestnov said that by their actions Ukraine’s partners "actually deprive" Kiev of one of few chances to intercept such drones.

Earlier, Beskrestnov reported that SpaceX had restricted overnight the operating speed of Starlink satellite Internet terminals used by the Ukrainian army to 160 km/h. Later, Sergey Sternenko, a former adviser to the country’s defense minister, said that SpaceX had further restricted the terminals’ operating speed to 60-70 kilometers per hour that morning.
