WASHINGTON, May 25. /TASS/. A potential peace deal with Iran should provide for signing the Abraham Accords on normalizing relations with Israel by a number of countries, including Iran, US President Donald Trump said.
"After all the work done by the United States to try and pull this very complex puzzle together, it should be mandatory that all of these countries, at a minimum, simultaneously, sign onto the Abraham Accords," he wrote on his Truth Social platform, referring to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan.
"It may be possible that one or two have a reason for not doing so, and that will be accepted, but most should be ready, willing, and able to make this settlement with Iran a far more historic event than it would, otherwise, be," he noted.
"It should start with the immediate signing by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and everybody else should follow suit," he wrote, adding that if other countries don’t do this, "they should not be part of this deal" with Iran, as this "shows bad intention." According to the US president, the leaders of other countries "would be honored, as soon as our document is signed, to have the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the Abraham Accords."
"This will be the most important deal that any of these great, but always in conflict countries, will ever sign. Nothing in the past, or in the future, will surpass it. Therefore, I am mandatorily requesting that all countries immediately sign the Abraham Accords, and that, if Iran signs its Agreement with me, as President of the United States of America, it would be an honor to have them also be part of this unparalleled world coalition," he emphasized, adding that he has already instructed his representatives to begin "the process of signing these countries into the already historic Abraham Accords."
Trump stated on May 24 that he doesn’t rule out Iran may want to join the Abraham Accords and normalize relations with Israel some time in the future.
The US brokered the Abraham Accords between Israel and several Arab countries in 2020-2021. In 2020, Israel normalized relations with Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco. In 2021, Sudan established diplomatic relations with the Jewish state. Prior to the Abraham Accords, Israel only had diplomatic relations with Egypt, established in 1979, and Jordan, established in 1994, among the Arab states.
