WASHINGTON, February 28. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump confirmed the start of a military operation against Iran.

"A short time ago, the United States military began major combat operations in Iran, Trump said in the video address posted on his page in Truth Social.

The goal of the US operation against Iran is to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons, Trump noted.

"We will ensure that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon," the US leader stressed.
