MOSCOW, August 13. /TASS/. Normal elections in Ukraine are currently impossible, and any vote held under Vladimir Zelensky’s rule would only reproduce his regime, former Ukrainian Prime Minister (2010-2014) Nikolay Azarov said in an interview with TASS.
"In this case, no elections are possible. This is perfectly clear. Zelensky can be forced to hold elections. The United States has the means to do so. But Zelensky's regime will produce a carbon copy of itself. It is not necessary for a new leader to be referred to as Zelensky; the surname can change, but the regime will remain and continue the same Russophobic, Nazi, and Bandera policies and, in essence, war propaganda," he stated.
Ukraine’s presidential election was scheduled for March 2024. Zelensky’s term officially expired on May 20 last year, but he has declared that the question of his legitimacy did not concern him.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that Zelensky’s mandate has expired, making it essential to clarify who in Kiev has the authority to sign legally binding agreements. He has warned that the current Ukrainian leadership is illegitimate, creating the risk of a legal conflict that could nullify any negotiated settlement.
