DOHA, March 20. /TASS/. Starting from March 15, US forces delivered strikes on over 60 targets of Yemen’s radical Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement, Al Jazeera reported citing an unnamed US official.
The official was quoted as saying that over 60 targets were attacked in Yemen on March 15-19. In his words, US forces eliminated a number of engineers and officials of the Houthi government, responsible for drone projects, as well as drone operators.
Al Jazeera’s source added that strikes will continue on a daily basis until Houthis stop their attacks on commercial ships and US vessels in the Red Sea.
President Donald Trump’s administration plans to bolster its military force in the region, the official added.
On March 15, the US started to carry out massive strikes on Houthi facilities in Yemen based on an order from Trump. The US Central Command said that the goal was to defend American interests and restore freedom of navigation. According to the latest data from the Houthi health ministry, the US strikes on Yemen have killed 53 people and left at least 98 wounded. In response, the Ansar Allah movement attacked the US aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the northern part of the Red Sea, using missiles and drones.
