LONDON, March 15. /TASS/. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to tell leaders of 25 countries, who will attend a meeting on Ukraine on Saturday via video link that Kiev’s allies should increase the pressure put on Russia to secure a ceasefire in Ukraine.
"If Russia finally comes to the table, then we must be ready to monitor a ceasefire to ensure it is a serious, and enduring peace, if they don’t, then we need to strain every sinew to ramp up economic pressure on Russia to secure an end to this war," the UK prime minister’s office quoted him as saying.
The British PM accused Russia of attempts to prolong the negotiations on the conditions of the ceasefire. "The world needs to see action, not a study or empty words and pointless conditions," he claimed.
The full list of participants in the meeting has not been published. The prime minister's office noted that it will be attended by leaders of the EU countries, members of the European Commission, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Ukraine. It is noted that Starmer will urge his counterparts to make "concrete commitments" to implement US President Donald Trump's peace plan, as well as to continue providing military assistance to Ukraine.
During the meeting, the intention of the "Coalition of the Willing" to deploy peacekeepers in Ukraine is expected to be made more concrete.
