Trump says US wants rare-earth metals from Ukraine in exchange for aid

"And they're willing to do it," US President added

WASHINGTON, February 4. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump said the US is interested in receiving rare-earth metals from Ukraine in exchange for US aid.

He made the statement when fielding questions from reporters at the White House.

"I want to have security of rare earth. We're putting in hundreds of billions of dollars. They have great rare earth, and I want security of the rare earth. And they're willing to do it," he said in televised comments.

"We're telling Ukraine they have very valuable rare earth. We want what we put up to go in terms of a guarantee. We want a guarantee. We're handing them money, hand over fist. We're giving them equipment," Trump said.

He said EU countries provide less aid to Kiev than the US.
