BUDAPEST, December 19. /TASS/. Donald Trump’s rise to the White House is a win for conservatism, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview with Mandiner magazine.
"The presidential election in the United States has radically changed the balance of power, tilting it in favor of patriots. This is good for all Hungarians," Orban said about Donald Trump's pending return to the White House.
He noted that Trump's victory means immediate economic benefits for Hungary. "America used to be the second-largest investor in the Hungarian economy, but today it is only the fourth. This is due to the fact that the Democratic administration [of Joe Biden] has clearly adopted a discriminatory approach towards Hungary," the Prime Minister explained.
Orban recalled that the current US authorities have abandoned the agreement banning double taxation, constantly signaled to their companies that Hungary is a "difficult country," and imposed visa restrictions that hinder business contacts.
"With Trump's victory, this anti-Hungarian policy has come to an end. A trade agreement will be concluded, there will be a fair visa regime, and American high-tech investors will come to Hungary," the head of government said.
Orban noted that currently a great civilizational struggle is unfolding in the Western world. This civilizational discussion includes such issues as migration, the future of the family, gender, Christian traditions, war and peace, economic and entrepreneurial freedom.
"If patriots make up the majority in Western civilization, there will be no migration, no gender bias, no war, but rather economic and entrepreneurial freedom, as well as Christian values, will be preserved," Orban said.
