ISTANBUL, December 8. /TASS/. The Syrian National Army (SNA) supported by Ankara has begun an operation in the Manbij Province in northern Syria, the TRT Haber TV channel reported.
According to it, practically 80% of the province is under the SNA’s control.
Units of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham extremist group (outlawed in Russia) staged a large-scale attack on Syria’s northern governorates early on November 27. By the end of the day on December 7, they have captured the cities of Aleppo, Hama, Deir ez-Zor, Daraa and Homs. On Sunday morning, the militants entered Damascus while Syrian army units left the city. Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali expressed readiness to peacefully transfer power in the republic. According to him, the Syrian government is holding talks with the rebel leadership.
