Iran confirms seizure of MSC Aries in Strait of Hormuz

According to the Associated Press, the Portuguese-flagged MSC Aries container ship is associated with the London-based Zodiac Maritime

DUBAI, April 13. /TASS/. The Navy of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps seized the commercial vessel MSC Aries in the Strait of Hormuz, the IRNA news agency reported.

According to the Associated Press, the Portuguese-flagged MSC Aries container ship is associated with the London-based Zodiac Maritime, a subsidiary of the Zodiac Group shipping business owned by Israeli magnate Eyal Ofer.

The Iranian news agency also confirmed that the vessel is operated by Ofer’s Zodiac.

According to data from MarineTraffic, the MSC Aries ship was heading from the UAE port of Khalifa to India’s Nhava Sheva Port. It last sent data about its location late on April 12 when it was off Dubai in the Persian Gulf.
