US military base in Iraq’s Al Anbar region sustains rocket attack

Three powerful blasts were heard at the US military facility

BEIRUT, December 27. /TASS/. A rocket attack has been delivered on a US military base in Iraq’s Al Anbar province, the Dubai-based Al Hadath television reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, three powerful blasts were heard at the US military facility. The consequences of the attack are unknown at this point.

Earlier, the Shiite movement Islamic Front for Iraqi Resistance used kamikaze drones to attack the US-led international coalition’s base north of the Iraqi city of Erbil some 425 km away from Baghdad. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the attack had left three US servicemen wounded, one of them critically. In response to the attack, retaliatory airstrikes were delivered by US forces on bases of the Iraq-based Kataib Hezbollah Shia group, active in Iraq.

Baghdad condemned the US attacks as a hostile act. According to the Iraqi prime minister’s press service, the strike left one person dead and 18 wounded.

CNN Arabic reported that Shia militants carried out six attacks on US military facilities in Syria and Iraq since December 20. A total of 90 such attacks have been registered since October 17.
