Six Turkish servicemen killed in Kurdish attack in northern Iraq

Five more militants have reportedly been eliminated in the northern part of Syria

ISTANBUL, December 23. /TASS/. Six more Turkish servicemen were killed and one was injured during a Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attack in the Zap region of Iraq, the Turkish Defense Ministry reported.

On Friday, six Turkish servicemen were killed and one was injured in another PKK attack in the northern part of Iraq.

"On December 23, six our servicemen died in a clash with terrorists, while one was injured. By this point, at least 13 terrorists have been eliminated in the Zap region," the Ministry said.

Five more militants have reportedly been eliminated in the northern part of Syria.

Turkey considers PKK a terrorist organization. Turkish authorities call it the main threat to national security. Turkish forces regularly carry out operations against Kurdish militants in northern parts of Iraq and Syria and keep a major forces group in the region.
