US can reconsider decision to soften sanctions against Venezuela — State Department

"If Maduro and his representatives fail to follow through on these steps, we will reconsider the steps we have taken to ease some sanctions," the spokesperson said

WASHINGTON, December 1. /TASS/. The US can reconsider its decision to soften sanctions against Venezuela if Caracas does not fulfill requirements brought by Washington earlier, a US State Department Spokesperson told TASS.

"If [President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro and his representatives fail to follow through on these steps, we will reconsider the steps we have taken to ease some sanctions," the spokesperson said.

The US expects that the Venezuelan government will fix the clear timeframe and determine the process of reinstating political rights for all candidates to the presidential post in the country, the State Department added.
