Pope Francis says ready to meet with Russian, Ukrainian presidents

He noted that he did not go to Kiev only because it is impossible now to visit Moscow

VATICAN CITY, February 5. /TASS/. Pope Francis said on Sunday he is always ready to meet with President Vladimir Putin of Russia and Vladimir Zelensky of Ukraine.

On his back from a visit to South Sudan, the Pope told journalists that he is open for a meeting with both presidents. He noted that he did not go to Kiev only because it is impossible now to visit Moscow.

He recalled his visit to the Russian embassy in Vatican immediately after the beginning of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine to tell that he wanted to visit Moscow to speak with Putin to see if there was the smallest possibility for talks.
