Spain bans protest in Madrid during NATO summit

Another anti-NATO demonstration will be staged on June 26

MADRID, June 24. /TASS/. Authorities have banned an anti-NATO demonstration in Madrid that was to take place during the alliance’s summit, Cadena SER radio reported on Friday.

The decision to ban the protest planned for June 29 was made for security reasons, said Cadena. Protesters were going to pass through a district not far from Prado National Museum, where the heads of state and delegations are expected to hold a working dinner.

Another anti-NATO demonstration will be staged in Madrid ahead of the summit, on Sunday.

NATO members on June 28-30 are expected to adopt a new strategic concept, discuss ways of strengthening the alliance and tackle climate change’s impact on global security.
