Russia discovers hundreds of civilians buried in mass graves in Lugansk People’s Republic

Head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin said that investigators continue to search for missing people and are working to identify the bodies of the civilians buried in unmarked graves in Donbass

ST. PETERSBURG, May 19. /TASS/. Russia's Investigative Committee has discovered the bodies of 265 civilians buried in mass graves in the Lugansk People’s Republic, suspecting Ukraine of being responsible, said head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin.

He said that investigators continue to search for missing people and are working to identify the bodies of the civilians buried in unmarked graves in Donbass.

"In 2024, several mass burial sites were discovered in the Lugansk region. After examination by investigators from the Investigative Committee, 265 human remains were exhumed. Medical and genetic tests have been appointed for each extracted corpse," Bastrykin said at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
