LUGANSK, February 9. /TASS/. Ukrainian troops are using drones to drop makeshift chemical munitions in the zone of responsibility of the Russian army, Andrey Marochko, a retired lieutenant colonel of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), told TASS on Wednesday.
"Our servicemen said that Ukrainian troops dropped unidentified munitions near Artyomonsk (knowns as Bakhmut in Ukraine), near Kremennaya and in the Svatovo section in the zone of responsibility of the 2nd army corps. After that they said their eye misted and they had breathing problems. Such munitions were used by the Ukrainian army in Popasnaya," he said.
According to Marochko, Ukrainian troops are using makeshift chemical weapons because "regular chemical weapons were either disposed of or taken from Ukraine." He noted that makeshift chemical bombs have a small radius and "Ukrainian militants are working on their modernization."
"Chemical weapons are quite effective in combat operation and can be used for intimidation," he said. "It should be noted that it is not very comfortable for our soldiers to carry chemical protection kits along with weapons and munitions.".
