Kiev troops try to advance north of Kherson, heavy fighting underway — official

The Ukrainian forces "attempted to carry out reconnaissance-in-force operations in three areas: near Posad-Pokrovskoye, Berislav and Snigirevka", the Kherson Region’s acting deputy governor Kirill Stremousov said

KHERSON, November 9. /TASS/. The armed forces of Ukraine are attempting to advance towards Snigirevka in the Nikolayev Region, heavy fighting is under way there, the Kherson Region’s acting deputy governor Kirill Stremousov said.

"Battles are now raging in the Snigirevka area of the frontline in the Nikolayev Region," the official wrote on his Telegram channel.

In his words, the Ukrainian forces "attempted to carry out reconnaissance-in-force operations in three areas: near Posad-Pokrovskoye, Berislav and Snigirevka."

"In the first two zones, the adversary suffered heavy losses and had to withdraw, but the Snigirevka area has seen heavy fighting since [Tuesday] morning," Stremousov added.

According to the official, "Polish-and English-speaking mercenaries are taking part" in the attack.

Earlier, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that the Russian military thwarted nine attempts by Ukrainian subversive/reconnaissance groups to infiltrate the Nikolayev-Krivoi Rog area during the past day.
