MINSK, November 3. /TASS/. Foreign forces have been behind almost every internal and interstate conflict in the CIS region, repeatedly seeking to plunge the area into chaos, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev has said.
"Foreign forces have never abandoned their attempts to destabilize our region. A series of 'color revolutions' and the sponsorship of radical nationalist and religious-extremist movements are just a few examples of the destructive policies directed against CIS member states. Almost all internal and interstate conflicts in our region have been instigated from abroad," he said at the 4th Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
Lebedev stressed that, over years of efforts to counter such threats, CIS member states had developed effective mechanisms to contain and neutralize these activities. He also underscored the importance of joint security efforts in preserving stability across the Commonwealth.
