Russia continues to hold talks with the team of US First Lady Melania Trump on arranging humanitarian aid for residents of Alyoshki in the Kherson Region and evacuating people in need, Yulia Zhdanova, head of the Russian delegation at the negotiations in Vienna on military security and arms control, said.
"Negotiations are currently underway to organize the delivery of humanitarian supplies and the evacuation of people in need of urgent help," she told a meeting of the OSCE Forum on Security Cooperation; her statement is available to TASS. According to Zhdanova, direct contact has been established between Russian human rights ombudsman Yana Lantratova and the team of the US president’s spouse to help the city’s residents.
Zhdanova pointed to the Ukrainian blockade as the main cause of the humanitarian crisis in Alyoshki. According to her, Ukrainian drones and remotely installed mines on the roads are hampering the delivery of supplies.
"Everything that reaches Alyoshki today is carried in by people or transported by bicycle, putting their lives at risk," she said.
The diplomat urged international organizations to give an impartial assessment of Kiev’s actions in the settlement.
