MOSCOW, October 9. /TASS/. The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has proven its effectiveness, becoming a fertile ground for the development of more advanced integration processes, such as the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"For many decades now, the CIS, despite the abundance of routine processes within this framework across the former Soviet Union, has confirmed its relevance and proven its effectiveness," he said.

"It also became a very fertile ground for new, even more advanced integration processes, such as the EAEU, for example," Peskov added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Turkmenistan on a two-day working visit to Thursday. He will take part in the session of the CIS Council of Heads of State and the Caspian Environmental Summit.
