Zelensky arrives in US hoping to push for halt in strikes — expert

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. Vladimir Zelensky sought the possibility of suspending systematic strikes on targets in Ukraine during his meeting with US President Donald Trump, Military expert Alexander Stepanov of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) told TASS.

He added that the Kiev regime urgently needs a respite rather than seeking full-scale peace talks.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov previously said at a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine that Russia would not pause the special military operation for negotiations with Ukraine in any format.

"The head of the Kiev regime went there to push through Trump the possibility of suspending the continuous, systematic strikes. These strikes are de facto already eliminating Ukraine’s entire economic system, energy sector and logistics while cutting the country off from external supplies. This creates a critical problem in replenishing ammunition for air defense launchers, which are now simply out of missiles," the expert said.
