MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. The Kremlin does not disclose details about personal gifts from Russian President Vladimir Putin, Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on reports about a portrait of US President Donald Trump by a Russian artist allegedly given to the leader.
"The only thing I can tell you is that it was an absolutely personal gift that the president gave to his American counterpart," he responded to a question from TASS.
"Since the gift is personal, we would not like to provide any additional information. Unless the president himself considers it appropriate to talk about it sometime," Peskov added.
US special envoy Steven Witkoff mentioned earlier that after a March 13 meeting in the Kremlin, he delivered a gift from Putin to Trump. He explained that the Russian president had "commissioned a beautiful portrait of President Trump from the leading Russian artist. The American leader, according to the special envoy, "was clearly touched by it."
Trump is a keen connoisseur of painting. In the morning, he criticized his portrait displayed in the Legislative Assembly of the State of Colorado. The US president decided that his image was deliberately conveyed poorly.
