MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. The Russian aerospace forces destroyed two militant bases located in remote mountainous areas of Syria, the deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria (a division of the Russian Defense Ministry) said.
"Strikes delivered by the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed two bases of militants, who left the Al-Tanf zone and took refuge in hard-to-reach areas of the El-Amor ridge in the province of Homs and the El-Bishri ridge in the province of Deir ez-Zor," Maj. Gen. Yury Popov said.
In a separate development, two attacks on positions held by Syrian pro-government forces were registered in the Idlib de-escalation zone over the past day. They were carried out by members of Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic Party of Turkestan (terrorist groups, both outlawed in Russia) and occurred in the provinces of Aleppo and Latakia.
The Russian official went on to say that one Syrian serviceman was killed by artillery fire, coming from terrorists’ positions in the district of Maaret in Aleppo.
"In the Latakia province, one Syrian serviceman was injured when a drone, launched by terrorists from the Ishakia district, dropped two improvised explosive devices on the positions of pro-government forces near the settlement of Hakur-Takhtani," Popov added.
