Russian mission to demand UN Human Rights office condemn execution of Russian POWs

UN Human Rights Office Spokesperson Liz Throssell told TASS earlier in the day that her "colleagues are aware of the videos of the mass shooting of Russian prisoners by Ukrainian soldiers "and are looking into them"

GENEVA, November 18. /TASS/. Russia’s mission to Geneva will demand the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights publicly condemn the execution of Russian prisoners of war by Ukrainian soldiers, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Geneva Office Gennady Gatilov said on Friday.

"This war crime committed by the Kiev regime’s henchmen will be brought before the international community," he wrote on his Twitter account. "The Russian Mission to the UN in Geneva will demand a public condemnation of this horrific crime from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights."

UN Human Rights Office Spokesperson Liz Throssell told TASS earlier in the day that her "colleagues are aware of the videos of the mass shooting of Russian prisoners by Ukrainian soldiers "and are looking into them." She stressed that this incident must be "promptly, fully and effectively investigated, and any perpetrators held to account."

Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case over the mass shooting of Russian soldiers by Ukrainian troops.

The case was opened on the basis of a video featuring Ukrainian soldiers executing at least 11 unarmed Russian servicemen who were taken prisoner in the Lugansk People’s Republic.
