Eight drones shot down or suppressed by electronic warfare near Sevastopol — mayor

According to the head of the city Leonid Razvozhaev, all services are in readiness

SEVASTOPOL, July 16. /TASS/. Russian air defense forces, the Navy and electronic warfare units have repelled an enemy attack on Sevastopol by shooting down or suppressing eight drones, city Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said.

"Air defenses, Navy and electronic warfare units repelled an enemy drone attack on Sevastopol over the sea near Cape Khersones, the Sevastopol Bay and Balaklava. One UAV was shot down and five were suppressed over the sea. Also, two water surface drones were destroyed outside the port," he said on Telegram.

Razvozhayev said the attack was massive and extended, but didn’t damage any municipal facilities on the ground or at sea.

"The city now is quiet and everything is calm. Situation the air continues to be monitored. All emergency services are on standby," the governor said.

Sevastopol is the main base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The city comes under drone attacks at times. One of the latest attacks occurred on May 25, when one drone lost control and fell in the woods on the outskirts of Sevastopol, and two others were shot down over the sea.
