Russia’s ‘Marketplace’ ripe for digital economy start-ups — Rostec

The subcommittee on Russia’s digital economy has reviewed an action plan to establish an interface between major technology companies and startups in the digital economy sphere

MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. The subcommittee on Russia’s digital economy has reviewed an action plan to establish an interface between major technology companies and startups in the digital economy sphere in Russia. This is going to be known as the so-called Marketplace, Director at large of Rostec Vasily Brovko told TASS on Tuesday.

In particular, a system of placement orders by major technology companies for certain potential products and technologies will be developed, Brovko said.

Screening the most promising sub-technologies and potential leaders will be the key element of the action plan, the director said. "A streamlined fast-track system of funding by financial institutions will be offered for a portion of the most promising projects," Brovko added.

The action plan stipulates devising a national digital economy development index, Brovko said. The World Bank has a similar index dubbed the ‘Digital Adoption Index’ (DAI). The project also furnishes an annual national report outlining the progress in building up Russia’s digital economy, the agency source said.
