Moscow court fines Google $46,931 for failing to remove banned content

The judge clarified that Google had hosted content on one of its platforms that discredited the Russian military and government bodies

MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. Moscow's Tagansky District Court has fined Google another 3.8 million rubles ($46,931) for refusing to remove content that discredits the Russian Armed Forces and state authorities or threatens to destabilize the situation in the country, a TASS correspondent reported from the courtroom.

"The court finds Google LLC guilty of an administrative offense under Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses (failure to restrict access to information as required by Russian law). The court hereby imposes a fine of 3.8 million rubles," the judge announced.

The judge clarified that Google had hosted content on one of its platforms that discredited the Russian military and government bodies, and could potentially destabilize the situation in Russia. The company failed to comply with demands from the state media watchdog Roskomnadzor to delete the information.

The Tagansky District Court has repeatedly fined Google for administrative violations in the past. Previous cases involved YouTube videos promoting non-traditional sexual relations and discrediting the Russian military.

As previously reported, Google’s total debt to the Russian Federation from accumulated administrative fines has reached two undecillion rubles (a number followed by 36 zeros) and continues to grow daily due to non-payment penalties. Furthermore, the company’s return to the Russian market is conditional on its compliance with these court rulings.
