Fifth Turkish bank starts accepting Russia’s Mir cards

Mir payment cards are currently accepted in 10 countries

MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/. Turkish bank Halkbank has begun servicing Mir cards, the Russian payment system said on its website on Thursday.

"Relatively recently, Halkbank has joined the list. Now it is possible to withdraw cash and pay for purchases with Mir cards using its devices," the press service told TASS. So, now Russian Mir cards can be used in Turkey in five banks - Is Bankasi, Ziraat Bankasi, VakifBank, DenizBank, and Halkbank.

Mir payment cards are currently accepted in 10 countries, including Turkey, Vietnam, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, South Ossetia, and Abkhazia.

Earlier, First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia Olga Skorobogatova told reporters on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) that Mir cards could soon be accepted in four more countries.
