LONDON, October 29. /TASS/. European countries’ attempts to agree on a negotiator for talks with Russia on Ukraine have descended into chaos, The Guardian reported, citing a senior European diplomat.
"There is an agreement overall that we need to talk to Putin, but the outreach is starting to feel like a free-for-all," the diplomat said, adding: "Too many leaders believe they can be the one to get Putin to negotiate."
Moscow has repeatedly expressed its readiness to hold talks with European countries on a continental security architecture based on mutual respect to the interests of all parties. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed, in a conversation with TV reporter Pavel Zarubin, with the US position that discussions on ensuring the future security of Ukraine and Russia required addressing European security architecture. Russia will monitor developments over the coming days, Putin added.
