Ukraine plans to build three 2,000-kilometer-long lines of fortified installations

MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. Ukraine plans to build three 2,000-kilometer long lines of defensive structures, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said.

"Prime Minister Denis Shmygal’s report about the construction of new defensive structures. Three 2,000-kilometer long lines of fortifications is a daring task," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Following the failure of Ukraine’s widely advertised offensive and a series of battlefield problems, Ukraine’s authorities became focused on the erection of fortified installations, for which ends considerable sums are being allocated. An ad hoc working group was set up in November 2023. According to the headquarters for coordinating construction works, around $525 million have been allocated for these purposes since the beginning of this year.

Ukrainian lawmaker Alexandra Ustinova said in December 2023 that due to the insufficiency of Western aid, Kiev will have to take a defensive position and that is why it is building three lines of fortified installations.
