UK’s Johnson says sanctions on Russia need to intensify until its troops leave Ukraine

Asked if he meant Crimea as well, Johnson repeated that all Russian troops should leave Ukraine

LONDON, March 30. /TASS/. The West needs to increase the pressure of sanctions on Russia until its troops leave Ukraine, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson told a parliamentary committee on Wednesday.

"I certainly don't think that you could expect the G7 to lift sanctions simply because there is being a ceasefire in Ukraine," he said. "Again, that goes straight into [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's playbook."

"In my view, we should continue to intensify sanctions with a rolling programme until every single one of his troops is out of Ukraine," Johnson went on to say in a speech broadcast by a parliamentary television.
