Roscosmos CEO promises to create ‘unkillable’ Internet in Russia

It is necessary for Russia to have an independent, sovereign space Internet, Dmitry Rogozin noted

MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. Launching new orbital groups will make it possible to create an independent, "unkillable" satellite internet in Russia, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin said during a meeting with Liberal Democratic Party of Russia deputies Thursday.

He noted that the implementation of current plans on spacecraft launches will make it possible to provide all necessary services to the Northern Sea Route, and to create an "unkillable" Internet in Russia.

"It is necessary for our country - for a country like ours - to have an independent, sovereign space Internet. And, correspondingly, the ground equipment must be as cheap as possible so that people could use it. Then we will be invulnerable. Right now, though, we experience pressure in this area," he said.

Answering to the opponents of development of satellite Internet, Rogozin noted that laying optic fiber is ineffective for Russia, where 70% of territory is permafrost.
