Lavrov conveys Putin’s greetings to Vietnam’s foreign minister at their meeting

The statement said that the two top diplomats exchanged views on a wide range of bilateral issues and touched upon further steps to promote the Russian-Vietnamese comprehensive strategic partnership

MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has conveyed greetings from President Vladimir Putin to Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son during their meeting on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit on Saturday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.

"I am delighted that we have an opportunity to meet on the sidelines of this summit. It is an important event. I would like to thank you for your hospitality and convey the best wishes from Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin," said Lavrov, whose remarks were posted on the ministry’s website.

The statement said that the two top diplomats exchanged views on a wide range of bilateral issues and touched upon further steps to promote the Russian-Vietnamese comprehensive strategic partnership.

"It was confirmed that their positions on key global and regional issues are similar or the same, and the readiness to enhance cooperation at multilateral venues, including within the ASEAN-centered mechanisms, was also confirmed," the ministry added.
