Positions of Russia, African nations on global policy issues close or aligned, says Putin

Moscow advocates for an equitable dialogue and for taking into account the interests of all states, the Russian leader stressed

MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. The positions of Russia and African states on the most pressing issues of global politics are close or aligned, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the first plenary session of the Russia-Africa summit.

"The positions of Russia and the countries of the African continent on the most pressing issues of global politics are, in many respects, close or aligned," he said.

"We advocate for an equitable dialogue and for taking into account the interests of all states," Putin explained, adding that Russia seeks to help enhance Africa's role within key multilateral forums.

"We advocate for fairer representation of Africans within the global decision-making system, including in the UN Security Council and international financial institutions," Putin added, noting that Russia welcomes the UN's decision to recognize the transatlantic slave trade as a grave crime against humanity.
