Africa holds boundless potential for development — Putin

The Russian president added that Africa is rightly described as the "continent of the future"

MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Africa offers immense opportunities for development, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum.

"According to the African Development Bank, the continent’s economies are growing at an average rate of 4.2%, exceeding the global average. Moreover, 12 of the world’s 20 fastest-growing economies are located in Africa. The continent is remarkably diverse in its ethnic and religious composition, as well as its geography and climate. All these factors point to its enormous potential for accelerated development and sustainable economic growth," Putin noted.

He added that Africa is rightly described as the "continent of the future." According to United Nations projections, the continent is set to become the main driver of global population growth from 2030 onward.

"By 2050, Africa’s population is expected to exceed 2.5 billion, with young people under the age of 30 accounting for approximately 70% of the total," Putin concluded.
