MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin said he and Chinese President Xi Jinping understand each other without words or interpreters.
"I'll give you a very simple example. There is no language barrier. Unfortunately, I do not speak Chinese yet, and our friend, my friend, Chinese President Xi Jinping, does not speak Russian yet. We were together in India and found ourselves alone in a waiting area, where leaders gather before approaching the host of the event, in this case Prime Minister [Narendra] Modi. He greets each leader, who then proceeds to the main hall. President Xi and I were left alone, just the two of us, without interpreters. You know what is interesting? We only had to say a word or two to each other, and we understood each other without interpreters, without knowing each other's languages. Is there a barrier or not? There is none," he said in response to a question during the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club.
