MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. The collective West has started to fracture into distinct groups of countries. However, the most militant factions that support the war in Ukraine continue to hold their positions, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated during a news briefing in response to a TASS question.
"We observe that the collective West has partially begun to lose its sense of unity. A fragmentation is taking place within the collective West, with varying positions emerging among different countries and groups," Peskov explained. "There remains a faction of countries that can be described as the 'warmongers’ party,' which openly expresses its commitment to continue supporting Ukraine in its war efforts and ensuring the continuation of hostilities. They remain silent on the necessity of negotiating peace terms as soon as possible," he emphasized.
Since President Donald Trump took office in January, the United States has expressed its desire to help bring the Ukrainian conflict to a swift conclusion. Unlike the European Union and the previous administration led by Joe Biden, Washington no longer offers unlimited support for Kiev and has even initiated contacts with Moscow.
These shifts have drawn sharp criticism from Ukraine and several Western European countries. Despite changes in the global political landscape, EU leadership and prominent member states continue to assert the necessity of "strategically defeating" Russia and providing Ukraine with a decisive advantage on the battlefield.
As Washington's support for Kiev diminishes, Brussels is becoming increasingly radicalized. Western European countries are now intensifying discussions about the militarization of their states and the potential deployment of military contingents to Ukraine.
