Single BRICS currency not discussed extensively — Kremlin

It is much more interesting at present to talk on the BRICS platform about new joint instruments or platforms for investments from countries of a higher development level to countries with a lower development level, Dmitry Peskov said

MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. There was no substantive discussion on the single BRICS currency at the recent summit in Kazan, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"Indeed, an extremely fruitful summit was held in Kazan a fortnight ago. It was the broadest representation, plenty of guests, very important talks and very significant results. For our country and for all the countries showing interest in BRICS. The topic of interaction in the financial and economic sphere was certainly present on the summit agenda. Was there the substantive talk on creating the single BRICS countries? No, it was not. It is hardly possible at present," Peskov said.

It is much more interesting at present to talk on the BRICS platform about new joint instruments or platforms for investments from countries of a higher development level to countries with a lower development level, Peskov said. "Creation and exploration of opportunities to create such platforms in the near future was indeed discussed. This is very important," he added.
