Russia aims to boost presence in Latin America — Foreign Ministry

The ministry pointed out that "in the current geopolitical situation, the growing role of the Latin American and Caribbean region as an influential center of the emerging multipolar world order fully meets Russian interests"

MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. Russia considers it necessary to step up efforts to further strengthen its position in the Latin American region, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s report said.

"Russia needs to intensify efforts to further strengthen its position in the region, to achieve dynamic development on a mutually beneficial basis of bilateral trade and economic, scientific and technical, educational, cultural and humanitarian ties, to expand cooperation with integration associations operating there," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a report on the results of the meeting "On the tasks of Russia's foreign policy in Latin America" chaired by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s board of directors pointed out that "in the current geopolitical situation, the growing role of the Latin American and Caribbean region as an influential center of the emerging multipolar world order fully meets Russian interests."

The Russian diplomats said that the participants in the meeting pointed to the importance of maintaining a high level of political dialogue and the constructive nature of interaction with Latin American states whose governments adhere to an objective and independent line with regard to Russia.

The ministry reported that the discussion resulted in the listing of concrete measures for the implementation of various tasks in the Latin American direction.
