Russian council proposes to revisit idea of designating Ukrainian forces as terror group

Alexander Kots said the terrorists aren’t "freelancers" but a regular unit that executed criminal orders of its leadership, which resulted in the killing of civilians

MOSCOW, March 2. /TASS/. Alexander Kots, a member of the Russian presidential Human Rights Council, on Thursday urged to revisit the idea of designating the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ukrainian special services as terrorist organizations, following a recent terrorist attack that Ukrainian saboteurs carried out in the Bryansk Region.

"Maybe, after the attack on the Bryansk Region, it’s time for us to think again about the idea to designate the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ukrainian special services as terrorist organizations, with the appropriate consequences," the council’s Telegram channel quoted Kots as saying.

Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier stated that the attack of Ukrainian saboteurs near the border of the Bryansk Region was classified as a terrorist attack. He said the saboteurs were aware they were attacking a civilian car. He said, "They saw civilians and children were inside it. It was a typical Niva, but they opened fire on them."

Kots said the terrorists aren’t "freelancers" but a regular unit that executed criminal orders of its leadership, which resulted in the killing of civilians.

"These crimes shouldn’t have time limits. Not a single perpetrator should evade responsibility. Just like it was with the organizers of the capture of a maternity house in Budyonnovsk, the theater center in Dubrovka and the school in Beslan," he said.
