Putin, Lukashenko kick off bilateral meeting at Vostochny Spaceport

The two presidents plan to discuss the pressing issues of the development of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Belarus, the situation in Ukraine and the counteraction to Western sanctions

VOSTOCHNY SPACEPORT, April 12. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko began a bilateral working meeting within the framework of their visit to the Vostochny Spaceport in the Amur Region on Tuesday.

As reported earlier, the leaders plan to discuss the pressing issues of the development of bilateral cooperation between both countries as well as the situation in Ukraine and the counteraction to Western sanctions. Following the talks, the presidents intend to hold a joint press conference. According to Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov, there are no plans to sign any documents at the talks.

Earlier on Tuesday, Putin and Lukashenko inspected the spaceport’s construction sites and met with its employees. The Russian president presented state awards to pilot cosmonauts.
